What the doctor will need from you
So there are no surprises. This is the usual list for this treatment.
Before you travel
Things to gather at home. Photographs of documents are fine — they do not need to be originals.
- Photos of the area you want treated
Front, back and both sides, standing straight in good light. The surgeon assesses skin quality from these, which decides what is realistic.
- Your weight now, and whether it has been steady
Results last only if the weight holds. If you are still losing, the surgeon will usually ask you to finish first.
- A list of every medicine you take
Blood thinners, diabetes medicine and some supplements change how the operation is planned, and a few have to be paused beforehand.
- Reports from any previous surgery or treatmentIf you have it
What was done before decides what can be done now. Photographs of the reports are fine.
After you arrive in Türkiye
The hospital does these. They are included in your package and usually take one morning.
- Blood tests
A blood count, clotting profile, blood sugar, and screening for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV. Standard before any operation, and usually done the morning you arrive.
- Heart trace (ECG)
Routine for anyone over forty or with a heart history, and quick to do.
- Examination and marking
The surgeon draws the plan on your skin while you stand. Look in the mirror and speak up before you go to theatre.
- Anaesthesia assessment
The anaesthetist meets you before the operation to check your heart, chest and medicines, and to agree the plan with the surgeon.
What the doctor will ask you
Worth thinking about before the consultation. Clear answers here save a day.
- What bothers you most? Point to it rather than describing it.
- Has your weight been stable for the last six months?
- Have you been pregnant, and how many times?
- Have you had liposuction or any abdominal surgery before?
- Has anyone in your family had a blood clot, or have you?
- Are you taking hormonal contraception?
- Do you smoke? Most surgeons will ask you to stop for several weeks.
You do not have to do this alone
Every patient is different. Once the doctor has read your file they may ask for one or two more things before confirming your plan — that is normal, and it is a sign your case is being looked at properly rather than waved through. If it happens, we tell you exactly what is needed and why, and you will see it added to this list.
If you cannot get a test at home, tell us. Most of them can be done in Türkiye instead, and we will arrange it.
