What the doctor will need from you

So there are no surprises. This is the usual list for this treatment.

Before you travel

Things to gather at home. Photographs of documents are fine — they do not need to be originals.

  • A panoramic dental X-ray, if you can get one

One wide image of both jaws. It lets the doctor plan and price your case properly before you fly instead of guessing from photographs. Any dental clinic in Iraq can take one, and it is inexpensive. The hospital repeats it on arrival.

  • Photos of your teeth and smile

Smiling from the front, and the upper and lower teeth with the mouth open. Good light matters more than a good camera.

  • A list of every medicine you take

Blood thinners, diabetes medicine and some supplements change how the operation is planned, and a few have to be paused beforehand.

  • Tell us if you take bone or osteoporosis medicine

This one matters more than patients expect. Some bone medicines affect how the jaw heals around an implant, and the doctor must know before planning.

  • A recent HbA1c result, if you have diabetesIf you have it

Implants need the gum and bone to heal. Uncontrolled sugar is the most common reason an implant fails, so the doctor checks it first.

After you arrive in Türkiye

The hospital does these. They are included in your package and usually take one morning.

  • Panoramic X-ray at the clinic

Taken again on their own machine so the measurements match their planning software.

  • 3D scan of the jaw (CBCT), for implants

Shows the height and density of bone at each implant site, and where the nerve runs. An implant is not planned without it.

  • Examination and treatment plan

Tooth by tooth, with the gum checked. This is where the plan and the final price are confirmed with you.

  • Choosing the shade, for crowns or veneers

You pick the colour yourself against a shade guide. Ask to see it in daylight.

What the doctor will ask you

Worth thinking about before the consultation. Clear answers here save a day.

  • Which teeth are bothering you, and for how long?
  • Is there pain, swelling, or bleeding from the gums?
  • Have you had teeth removed? When, and which ones?
  • Do you grind your teeth, especially at night?
  • Do you smoke? It affects how implants settle.
  • Do you have diabetes, and what was your last sugar reading?
  • Do you take any medicine for bones or osteoporosis?
  • What do you want your smile to look like? Bring a photo if you have one in mind.

You do not have to do this alone

Every patient is different. Once the doctor has read your file they may ask for one or two more things before confirming your plan — that is normal, and it is a sign your case is being looked at properly rather than waved through. If it happens, we tell you exactly what is needed and why, and you will see it added to this list.

If you cannot get a test at home, tell us. Most of them can be done in Türkiye instead, and we will arrange it.
