What the doctor will need from you
So there are no surprises. This is the usual list for this treatment.
Before you travel
Things to gather at home. Photographs of documents are fine — they do not need to be originals.
- Every report and scan you already have
Send more rather than less. For a case that has not been given a name yet, the old reports are what allow the right specialist to be chosen in the first place.
- The image files themselves, not only the reportIf you have it
A CD, a USB stick or the original files. A specialist wants to look at the images, not read someone else’s description of them.
- A list of every medicine you take
Blood thinners, diabetes medicine and some supplements change how the operation is planned, and a few have to be paused beforehand.
After you arrive in Türkiye
The hospital does these. They are included in your package and usually take one morning.
- Consultation with the specialist
The specialist decides which tests are needed once they have examined you. For a general case this is genuinely the honest answer — we cannot list them in advance, and we would rather say so than invent a list.
- Blood tests
A blood count, clotting profile, blood sugar, and screening for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV. Standard before any operation, and usually done the morning you arrive.
What the doctor will ask you
Worth thinking about before the consultation. Clear answers here save a day.
- What is the main problem, in your own words?
- When did it start, and has it changed since?
- What has already been tried, and did anything help?
- Which diagnoses have you been given, and by whom?
- What medicines are you on now?
- What are you hoping we can do for you?
You do not have to do this alone
Every patient is different. Once the doctor has read your file they may ask for one or two more things before confirming your plan — that is normal, and it is a sign your case is being looked at properly rather than waved through. If it happens, we tell you exactly what is needed and why, and you will see it added to this list.
If you cannot get a test at home, tell us. Most of them can be done in Türkiye instead, and we will arrange it.
